Job Summary

Responsible for the managing of quality control measures, budgets, and project timelines for large scale projects across the fleet. This is to ensure long term projects are performed in the most efficient manner ensuring rig integrity while minimizing out of service period and cost. Implements project execution processes and ensure methodologies and processes are captured for future reference across the fleet. The Project Manager will have the authority to manage the resource allocation to fleet projects as requested and agreed with operating areas; provide recommendation and guidelines to rigs relating to SPS and other Special Projects; author corporate reports (Project proposals and audit reports) and execute project deliverables based on specific project issued mandates.

Job Specific Responsibilities

The Project Manager’s key area of responsibilities include:

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management according to corporate standards

Optimal resource management (e.g., balanced across cost, quality, capability, productivity)
Ensuring project planning and status reporting is performed to corporate standards.
Ensuring project execution and cost control is maintained to corporate standards.
Inform stakeholders of project status based on project specific milestones and deliverables.
Overall visibility and reporting on upcoming and ongoing projects within the organization.
Summary guidance and reporting across all Projects, as required.

Specific tasks in connection with the role include, but are not limited to:

Collaborates with the Project Controls group to ensure a robust system of cost control is implemented throughout project execution such that the approved budget is not exceeded. This includes such key factors as costs and commitments from all sources are accurately tracked, change control is rigorous and effective, charges to project budget are verified and that necessary approvals are in place, completion costs are accurately forecasted, early warning of potential cost over-runs is provided.
Collaborates with the Project Planner team, to ensure that a fully integrated schedule is developed, implemented, and tracked daily throughout the project duration; The commissioning schedule is finely detailed and integrated with the construction schedule; the OFE delivery schedule is fully developed and carefully monitored and fully integrated with the construction schedule. Provide regular and accurate progress reports to corporate management.
Provides leadership and guidance to the Project team to ensure that the rig is fully outfitted and commissioned prior to departure from the shipyard and Ready to Drill. Ensure the Rig leaves the shipyard on or before the contract delivery date ready to drill and fully outfitted to meet the specifications of the drilling contract. Works closely with the client to ensure the rig as outfitted and equipped is aligned with client requirements and expectations.
Promote and develop teamwork within the project group to sponsor Operations ownership of the rig, its equipment, and systems. Ensure Operations and Operations Support ownership of the unit to eliminate re-engineering following departure from the shipyard.
Ensure projects are executed in accordance with the terms of the shipyard contract, to a high HSE standard with the primary objective of no injuries to personnel and no harm to the environment.
Ensure construction standards are maintained in accordance with the project quality plan, and equipment and systems are installed in accordance with corporate policies, standards, and procedures.
Ensure preferential engineering and construction preference engineering is eliminated.
Ensure project schedules are maintained with minimum delays and conflicting activities, and all project, shipyard, and vendor activities are conducted in accordance with the contract HSE plan.
Ensure lessons learned are addressed, actioned, and closed out on the project.
Ensure corporate management and the Client are fully and reliably informed throughout project execution. Provide regular and accurate financial reports to corporate management.
Reviews the project Risk Register, conduct regular reviews, prepare mitigation plans to ensure that they are complete and effective.
Collaborates with the project HSE Manager to implement a system of safe working practice that is consistent across all project worksites. Sponsors and support a culture of safety awareness within the project team, vendors, and shipyard workforce. Facilitate and conduct regular all-party HSE meetings. Provide Corporate management and client with regular HSE reports complete with historical incident data and trend analysis. Conduct frequent site audits to ensure that all agreed safety management processes and systems are implemented and effective.
Review activities daily with Shipyard/Operations and the Project Planner to ensure alignment with the project plan. Monitor shipyard progress, identify potential delays and implement timely remedial actions. Conduct forward analysis of future activities to identify latent efficiencies and areas where there may be potential for schedule acceleration.
Conduct daily production meetings with shipyard/operations production supervisors, vendor supervisors and Project supervisors to discuss the day’s activities and HSE management.
Conduct daily forward-planning meetings with the shipyard production supervisors, vendor supervisors and Project supervisors to ensure that there are no conflicts, and that preparation and resources are discussed and fully in place for the following day’s plan and future activities. Take timely remedial action to resolve conflicts when discovered to ensure that there is minimum disruption to progress.

Essential KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in respective high level project management discipline at supervisory level.
Advanced level of knowledge relating to typical equipment and systems onboard offshore drilling rigs


Education And Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification

Must have good managerial/administrative skills to develop and execute above role.
Ability to liaise at high level with drilling units, technical teams, and unit management.
Flexible to travel offshore as situations dictate.
Fully acquainted with management systems and asset management systems, similar to TMS/IFS/Synergy.
