Your day crafting precision starts here
Step into a hands-on role where you shape the tools that shape our products. As a Precision Tooling Machinist, you’ll manufacture and repair tooling that matches part drawings, fabricate jigs, fixtures, dies, cutting tools, gauges, and machine tools, and support production with expert toolroom workmanship. In a job-shop environment, you’ll flex between building custom tooling and supporting production machining—often in the same day.
- Interpret blueprints and use precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to build or modify tooling for new and legacy jobs.
- Sharpen tools and verify tool holders are service-ready before returning them to storage; repair or requisition replacement parts, tooling, and hardware to sustain inventory levels.
- Check tooling in and out of the tool room with care and accountability.
- Set up and run toolroom equipment and lathes to produce/restore form tools, taps, drills, and holders for grinding.
- Assemble setup kits for any machine as needed to keep work flowing.
- Preferred: Heading experience within the fastener industry and familiarity with basic heading equipment maintenance.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949 principles.
- Strong communication with supervisors, peers, and direct reports via phone, email, writing, and in person—staying calm under pressure.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and execute efficiently while moving quickly between tasks with minimal errors or omissions.
- Sound deductive reasoning—applying general rules to specific issues to arrive at practical solutions.
- Hands-on skill adjusting machine components to regulate speed, pressure, temperature, material flow, dimensions, and amounts.
- Commitment to OSHA and company safety practices at all times.
- Lift up to 40 lbs as part of regular duties.
- Wear required PPE in designated areas.
- Stand and move throughout 8–10-hour shifts.
- 100% onsite at a single work location.
