UtilityInnovation Group (UIG) is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and production of our power generation and power distribution products. This role applies advanced engineering practices and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver safe, efficient, and highly functional solutions.
The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with UIG’s Engineering and Manufacturing teams to move designs from concept to production and throughout the full product lifecycle. This includes taking tasks, verbal direction, and partial designs to completion by researching, designing, developing, testing, and refining solutions. The ideal candidate is self-driven, highly analytical, and an exceptional problem solver capable of working independently while supporting team objectives.
- Develop conceptual layouts, designs, and budgetary estimates
- Support scope development and documentation
- Assist with product and project design, development, production, and testing
- Engage with customers and internal team members to confirm requirements
- Participate in design reviews with the engineering team
- Assemble mechanical systems and interfacing electrical components
- Perform testing and validation for power generation and power distribution equipment
- Produce internal and external reports as needed
- Track schedules and milestone dates to ensure project delivery
- Provide coordination and documentation for internal teams
- Resolve outstanding questions or issues for the Engineering team
- Work with engineering drawings from AutoCAD Inventor, ePlan, and AutoCAD Electrical
- Contribute to process improvements, reduced turnaround times, and streamlined workflows
- Communicate effectively with engineers, drafters, and manufacturing personnel orally in the English language
- Collaborate with team members and support overall engineering schedules
- Identify risks early when milestones are at risk
- Demonstrate strong independent work ethic and problem-solving ability
- Own program-level support tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or related technical field from an accredited university, with 2-5 years of experience in power generation design,
OR5+ years of experience in power generation design
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with a desire for continuous improvement
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work effectively with peers and management
- Ability to travel up to 20% annually
- Proficient with AutoCAD Inventor and/or SolidWorks
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with symbols and terminology used in mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
- Manual dexterity for operating digital equipment such as computers and machine controllers
- Ability to work around electrical testing environments and industrial processes when required
Primarily office-based, with regular interaction at UIG’s manufacturing facility, R&D facility, and job sites as needed
