Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Engineering opening with a welding and fabrication manufacturer that is located in Reading, PA. This person will be responsible for product and design support, proposals, process engineering and cross-functional collaboration.
Below is a summary of responsibilities for this position:
- Develop and enhance manufacturing processes for fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and finishing.
- Create and maintain routings, work instructions, SOPs, and technical documentation.
- Conduct workflow, time study, and capacity analyses to improve efficiency.
- Support production layout optimization and equipment utilization.
- Review customer drawings and specifications for manufacturability.
- Recommend design improvements for cost reduction or improved performance
- Support Estimating with technical input during the quoting process.
- Provide daily engineering support to supervisors and operators.
- Troubleshoot quality or production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance planning.
- Support safety-related engineering controls and improvements.
- Partner with Quality to investigate non-conformances and establish corrective actions.
- Reduce scrap, rework, and variability through data-driven process improvements.
- Participate in Lean and CI initiatives including Kaizen, 5 Whys, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Work with Production, Purchasing, Scheduling, and Maintenance to support daily operations.
- Provide operator training on new processes or revised work instructions.
- Assist with safety hazard assessments and engineering solutions.
Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
- 3–5 years of experience in a product, project, or manufacturing engineering field
- Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, or assembly operations
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Experience developing process documentation
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Lean or Six Sigma training.
- PDM & ERP experience (SolidWorks PDM, TeamCenter, Epicor, JobBOSS, SAP)
- Experience with G-code, Mastercam or a related machining software (preferred but not required)
