This position oversees the operation of the IT department and ensures that it aligns with the business objectives of the organization. The principal goals are to deploy and manage application portfolios along with the supporting infrastructure for each department.
Plans, coordinates, directs, and designs all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations.
Create and execute strategic and operations plans that evolve systems and infrastructure to align with the business operational and strategic objectives.
Manages IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
Defines and communicates project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
Reviews performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
Benchmarks, analyzes, and makes recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
Develops bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades and makes the appropriate award.
Directs research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
Develops and implements all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
Participates in negotiations and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
Where necessary, re-engineers applications support to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision.
Manages IT staff, including hiring, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.
Good understanding and technical knowledge of current server, network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards, including SQL Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, VMWare and related Server products, strong understanding of TCP/IP technology.
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
Knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems.
Familiarity of Cyber Security protocols and an in-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Ability and willingness to work hours outside of the typically scheduled hours which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies which may occur in any area of the production process.
Ability and willingness to travel as requested or required.
Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
