Summary:
This position will plan, coordinate, direct, organize and design all operational activities of the Information Technology department, as well as provide direction and support for Information Technology solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations and strategic goals for the Authority. The Director of Information Technology will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. This position will be on-site in our Oakdale, NY office with Monday- Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm schedule.

Description:
Responsibilities include:
•Provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight to the Information Technology department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
•Champion the Authority’s enterprise systems strategy, including SAP ERP and SAP SuccessFactors, ensuring effective deployment, integration, and user adoption.
•Establish and enforce IT standards and governance policies that support system interoperability, data integrity, and return on investment (ROI) in infrastructure and application platforms.
•Lead cross-functional collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, Department Heads, and Board Members to define and implement long-term IT goals, digital innovation strategies, and capital plans.
•Oversee full lifecycle project management across the department—including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure—adhering to SDLC and Agile practices.
•Drive continuous service improvement using ITIL frameworks, ensuring high availability, incident response, and change management protocols are followed.
•Identify emerging technologies that enhance operational efficiency, customer engagement, and user experience.
•Direct the preparation and administration of the IT operating and capital budgets, procurement strategies, and vendor management, including contract negotiations and SLA compliance.
•Oversee enterprise infrastructure, including network connectivity (LAN/WAN), disaster recovery, cybersecurity, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
•Ensure reliable support and troubleshooting for end-user systems and services; implement process automation to streamline IT workflows.
•Provide oversight for Microsoft SQL, Office 365, and enterprise productivity tools administration.
•Lead and develop IT staff by fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and innovation.
Qualifications:
•10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership, with at least 5 years in a Director/Manager role overseeing teams of 10 or more.
•Proven experience managing SAP ERP, SuccessFactors, or other enterprise HR/Finance platforms.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field required; Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
•Professional certifications strongly preferred: PMP, ITIL v4, SAP Certified Application Associate, or similar.
•Strong understanding of business operations, budgeting, customer service delivery, and utility sector (preferred).
•Deep knowledge of enterprise systems architecture, cybersecurity frameworks, networking, and cloud technologies (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS).
•Demonstrated success leading technology modernization efforts and large-scale IT transformation initiatives.
•Strong programming and analytical skills with an ability to evaluate, design, and improve systems architecture.
•Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with a focus on stakeholder engagement and executive reporting.
•Self-starter with the ability to manage complexity and prioritize strategic initiatives while maintaining operational excellence.
The Authority may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the requirements
