Job Overview
Lead CNC Lathe Operator responsible for setup, programming, and production on CNC lathes. The role focuses on producing parts to print, maintaining process consistency, and keeping machines running efficiently. Work involves Fanuc-controlled equipment and standard inspection practices.
- Set up and run CNC lathes, including first article verification and production runs
- Read and work from prints, including GD&T requirements
- Edit and create programs (G-code/CAM) as needed to maintain part quality and cycle time
- Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMM when required
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to keep parts in spec
- Select tooling, set offsets, and manage tool life
- Perform basic machine maintenance and keep equipment in working order
- Follow shop processes for quality, documentation, and safety
- Keep work area organized and support general shop operations as needed
- Experience running CNC lathes in a production environment
- Working knowledge of Fanuc controls and G-code
- Ability to read prints and understand GD&T
- Competence with standard inspection tools
- Basic math for tolerances, offsets, and setups
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM (e.g., SolidWorks) is useful but not required
- General mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes
