Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday,
Substation Engineering¿s co-op program is designed for hands-on and in-depth experiences of an electric utility substation environment. The co-op will gain understanding of equipment(transformers, arresters, breakers, switches, batteries, etc.) design drawings, regulatory requirements, and industry standards as it relates to design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Experience will also include material procurement, contract preparation, substation site visits and other aspects from project execution to close-out. Student will work in an engineering team environment with civil, structural, and electrical engineers along with CADD operators resulting in exposures across various Disciplines and skillsets. Project experience will entail battery sizing, equipment (RTU, breaker, relaying) design and wiring, software analysis, contract development and bid review.
Specific fields of study required: Engineering, preferably Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical
- Minimum 2.5 GPA required; 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
- Sophomore Status or Higher
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Current full-time college student pursuing Electrical Engineering degree program
- Must be attending an accredited college/university
- Ability to read prints. prioritize and work on multiple assignments at one time, work under stressful situations, operate a computer and other office equipment, sit at a desk for more than one hour at a time, move about the Company and interact with all levels of the Company, ability to think logically, communicate clearly and offer informed suggestions to improve processes.
Other: Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting and carrying at least 20 pounds. May require outside site visits requiring walking on uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions.
Microsoft Office Suite of Products Familiarity with AutoCAD tools. Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents.
