The HR Manager will play a pivotal role, wearing different hats as required to build on a culture that supports collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth. This role will manage the day-to-day HR scope of a modest-sized energy company (less than 50 people) while supporting the build of an HR program fit for purpose and designed to support rapid growth.
The HR Manager also plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations while helping to develop and manage the foundational people processes for long-term growth. This role will thrive in connecting people and their work to the success of the company and establish employee and department objectives connected to the corporate mission and vision.
- Manage the employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, performance, offboarding.
- Maintain employee records in compliance with employment laws.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are current, compliant, and well-communicated.
- Administer benefits enrollment, vacation tracking, and leave management.
- Organize employee engagement initiatives such as team-building events, milestone celebrations and internal communications.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment across departments, including developing job descriptions, screening resumes, and coordinating interview schedules.
- Lead onboarding and orientation processes for new hires.
- Build employer brand presence on website and through LinkedIn and other platforms.
- Contribute to workforce planning and headcount forecasting.
- Implement and support a regular performance review cycle.
- Help design and launch learning and development programs.
- Work with managers to coach, mentor, and provide feedback to employees.
- Create role-specific onboarding programs.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
- Analyze HR metrics and present insights to leadership (turnover, retention, engagement).
- Support organizational design and change management efforts.
- Partner on HR strategy projects such as career pathing, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Contribute to building the company’s total rewards strategy (compensation benchmarking, incentives, etc.).
- Conduct policy audits and ensure all workplace practices are legally compliant.
- Maintain employee records, employee certifications and training logs.
- Lead workplace investigations and conflict resolution with guidance.- 8+ years of HR generalist or related experience with some strategic insight on HR business planning.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
- CHRP designation preferred.
- Exceptional people skills and emotional intelligence.
- Solid understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong document management, reporting and technical acumen.
