This Environmental Specialist role will support portions of licensing application development and interface between internal teams (licensing, engineering, program/project management, supply chain, and procurement) and the U.S. NRC. This includes relevant topic areas of environmental law, nuclear safety, nuclear security, emergency planning, safeguards, and financial primarily applied to the X-energy reactor technology. This position is targeting individuals with expertise in geology, hydrogeology, meteorology, or biology. Individuals must demonstrate experience with the National Environmental Policy Act; related field experience is a plus.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

- Support portions of licensing activities (certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses associated with reactor technologies) and ensure milestones are met as agreed with the U.S. NRC.

- Provide licensing support to engineers in developing technical requirements that will ensure compliance with NRC regulations and guidance.

- Support scope development of the annual regulatory engagement plan, lead regulatory audits and responses to RAI’s (Requests for Additional Information).

- Develop licensing content to support portions of Safey Analysis Reports and licensing applications.

- Support planning and executing the X-energy licensing strategy.

- Develop regulatory white papers, technical reports, and licensing topical reports.

- Support development of licensing plans and associated budgets.

- Actively support the X-energy safety culture and ensure integration of quality in licensing processes as informed by the X-energy Quality Assurance Program.

- Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.

- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

- Execute the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, with minimal supervision.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, meteorology, or biology) or other related area.

- Typically, five years of relevant licensing experience.

- Experience in direct NRC interactions (written and/or verbal).

- Understanding of the nuclear regulatory processes in the United States.

- Experience in project management related to developing schedules and coordinating team activities to produce technical content for regulatory purposes.

- Expertise in geology, hydrogeology, meteorology, or biology strongly preferred.

- Experience with the National Environmental Policy Act; strongly preferred.

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$110,880 - $141,680
