This position is within the Power System Management department of PSEGLI. The Engineer will be responsible for managing the interconnection process of commercial sized distributed energy resources, such as solar to the LIPA distribution system based on the LIPA tariffs.
- Coordinate with customers, their developer and sub-contractors along with internal groups for the procurement, set-up, installation and future maintenance of the Verizon supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) process including the router and its required programming.
- Coordinate with internal groups on the billing and act as the point person for the customer on any inquires.
- Monitor and coordinate with internal groups on the real-time operations, acting as the liaison with the customer to troubleshoot and identify any issues related to the SCADA telecommunication system.
- Process applications that come through PSEG LI Small Generator Interconnection Procedure (SGIP) through multiple phases of project, study, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and commercial operation. Coordinate with outside developers and customers to process the applications and ensure they meet the requirements of our Tariff in conjunction with internal departments.
- Wholesale Power experience, both from commercial and regulatory end. Participate and contribute from “cradle to grave” project management from early application involvement through design review, construction and project closeout.
- Project Management of Generating Resources (Renewable/Non-Renewable) to LIPA Distribution System. Review and familiarity with utility single line drawing and ability to manage multiple projects while providing superb customer service.
- Provide support on technical end to assist Renewable and Non-Renewable projects proposed to interconnect to LIPA Distribution System.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E. or B.S.) in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Apply deep knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic TLS and 4G wireless systems.
- Bring 2–4 years of proven experience in utility or power systems engineering.
- Utilize a strong understanding of distribution and transmission design, construction methods, and relay/system protection protocols.
- Demonstrate sharp attention to detail through complex problem-solving, project planning, and organizational excellence.
- Translate technical complexities into clear, precise documentation and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
- Experience working with telecommunication equipment including the ordering, set-up, installation, troubleshooting and maintaining the equipment.
- Experience with managing commercial contracts.
