Overview:
Kindle Energy LLC (“Kindle”) specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada and is a portfolio company of Blackstone Inc. (“Blackstone”). Blackstone is a leading global alternative asset manager with $1 trillion of total assets under management. Currently, Kindle manages 8.7+ GWs of generation in Ohio, Indiana, and Louisiana, with a 700 MW CCGT project under construction in Louisiana and a 160 MW natural gas fired facility under construction in Colorado.
We are currently recruiting for the role of Director Operations to support an asset or group of assets managed by Kindle in the Northeast US. This position will report to the Vice President Operations and may require travel of >50%.
Responsibilities:
•Assist VP Operations in the operational leadership of various managed generating portfolios
•Assist in the oversight and management of self-managed portfolio O&M management teams; this includes setting operational goals based on safety over production; holding employees accountable for their performance and the overall performance of the asset, reporting results, and developing corrective actions and improvement plans
•Assist in the mobilization, oversite, and management of third-party O&M contracts
•Lead managed portfolio assets in the development of annual budgets, analyzing year-over-year variances, building presentations to be reviewed by management team, and communicating results to management, investors, and shareholders
•Assist VP Operations in developing standardized monthly, quarterly, and annual performance results
•Ensure engineering programs are implemented and maintained to drive continuous improvement
•Support all operations activities through collection and analysis of information and the dissemination of data on financial and operational plant performance.
•Perform detailed analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to support all business functions
•Support annual unit characteristics process, including working with the facilities, Commercial Operations, Asset Management, and Risk personnel to collect current data, evaluate updates, and analyze change impact results
•Perform financial and economic analysis focused on increasing the returns of the managed portfolio generation assets
•Support due diligence efforts for business development opportunities through acquisitions, divestitures, major projects, and revenue enhancement initiatives
•Support outage management matters/programs for portfolio managed generating assets
•Coordinate across a diverse organization in pursuit of business initiatives
•Prepare Investment Committee quality presentations and documentation as required
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering; MBA, or equivalent, preferred
•10+ years of power generation experience; preferrable directly related to power plant operations
•Minimum of five (5) years of experience required in the management, development, and/or scoping of complex projects
•Demonstrated ability to manage complex business initiatives in the energy sector with experience in electric wholesale markets
•Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint as it pertains to building standardized reports, operational performance analysis and professional presentations
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences, including upper management, investors, and plant personnel
