Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, scheduling, and supervision of six (6) direct reports and five (5) O&M contractors across multiple states for all water and wastewater systems. This includes operation and maintenance of water treatment and distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection systems, including, but not limited to, groundwater wells, booster pump stations, lagoons, collection piping, and all distribution system piping, valves, tanks, hydrants, etc. Reports to the CFO and COO of Hope Water, Inc.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
•Direct all operations manager(s), compliance manager(s), operation supervisor(s), operator(s), and subcontractors daily to ensure efficient and effective overall performance of company assets in delivering reliable and environmentally complaint water and wastewater services to Hope Water’s customers.
•Oversee all projects activities, work equipment and sites to ensure everything is performed to company standards as well as to the latest OSHA regulations and standards.
•Work with all the necessary company personnel to ensure site and crew activities are in sync throughout the company’s portfolio of water and wastewater systems.
•Delegate jobs to direct reports and subcontractors as determined by their capabilities and the general requirements of specific work projects and site parameters.
•Meet with direct reports and necessary personnel as required in order to fully resolve conflicts, complications and other issues according to company, industry, state/regional, and client standards/requirements.
•Train new direct reports and provide all workers engaged in company operations with continuing education according to the latest industry requirements in order that all work meets the most current specifications.
Essential Job Tasks:
•Responsible for the effective supervision and administration of budget preparation and monitoring to include capital expenditure, selection, training, performance management, employee relations, prioritizing and assigning work and related activities.
•Manage and conduct project management and planning activities; develop work plans consisting of mission, objectives, scope of work, budget, schedules, and baseline requirements; identify critical issues and recommend solutions.
•Learn and apply all safety rules and regulations.
•Perform record keeping functions such as logging plant operation, test results, maintenance work performed and unusual operating conditions.
•Work with executive team members on growth opportunities as assigned, assisting with due diligence, capital planning, and resource allocation for new systems within or outside of current company footprint.
•Coordinate with operations staff to make necessary adjustments to chlorinators, pumps, and other operational equipment.
•Ensures conformance to process specifications. Troubleshoots and diagnoses operational problems and takes corrective action.
•Compliance with federal, state, and local water quality and discharge standards routinely reporting and monitoring all company sites through direct reports and subcontractors.
•Supervision of employees and contractors.
•Select, develop, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees on performance issues; implement progressive discipline.
•Communicate timely on potential or real issues to both supervisor and executive team.
•Collaborate with the parent company (Hope Utilities) as needed and/or requested to ensure alignment of the company’s systems, tools, and processes.
•Respond to and perform emergency repairs at irregular hours.
•Subject to 24-hour on call, variable working hours, overtime, weekends and holidays. May be required to perform stand-by duties and respond to emergencies.
Minimum Training and Experience Required To Perform Essential Functions:
•High level of understanding and application of safety practices and procedures as they apply to water and wastewater treatment facilities, distribution and collection systems, mechanical equipment, chemical handling, general tools, and machinery.
•General knowledge of the use of equipment used in water and wastewater treatment, distribution and/or collection processes, such as pumps, motors, valves, filters, engines, meters, generators, and compressors.
•Minimum of five-years (5) hands-on experience in operation, maintenance, repair, rebuild and service of mechanical equipment, control valves, pumps, motors, tanks and piping systems found in a water plant.
•Minimum of five-years (5) operations management and supervisory experience with a regulated water and/or wastewater utility or consulting enterprise.
•Ability to recognize, use, and train company personnel on tools and equipment necessary to perform limited repairs to equipment.
•Knowledge of the safe and proper operation of various types of hand and power tools, pick-up trucks, tractors and similar vehicles.
Other Special Requirements:
•Grade 4 Certifications in Water Distribution, Water Treatment, Wastewater Collection, and Wastewater Treatment.
•Bachelor’s degree preferred.
•Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
•Must pass all the company’s screening requirements, including drug and alcohol, and background checks.

•Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
•Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgment in performing diversified work activities.
•Ability to exert effort in strenuous physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
•Ability to withstand exposure to inclement weather conditions, working in wet and/or odorous areas, working in tanks and/or confined spaces.
•Ability to be subject to 24-hour on call, variable working hours, overtime, weekends and holidays. May be required to perform stand-by duties and respond to emergencies.
