Ready to own the full supply chain for a $90M+ advanced manufacturing leader? Tie Down Engineering — a family-owned powerhouse in custom metal fabrication, engineering, and trailer components — is looking for a strategic, hands-on leader to run both our heavy metals/materials sourcing and our extensive MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) procurement. This is not just a steel-buying role. You’ll control strategic sourcing of coil steel and metals while also driving cost, reliability, and efficiency across all indirect spend — from production consumables, tooling, spare parts, facility maintenance, and capital equipment support to keep 800,000 sq ft of high-tech manufacturing (laser cutting, robotic welding, stamping, powder coating, injection molding) running at peak performance.
If you’ve scaled sourcing in metals while also crushing MRO spend in a large industrial environment, negotiated smart deals across direct and indirect categories, and used data to deliver real savings, this is your chance to own the entire supply chain backbone and fuel our growth.
- Lead strategic sourcing and purchasing of coil steel and other metals — negotiate competitive pricing, terms, and reliable supply from domestic and international sources.
- Own the full MRO procurement program — source and manage indirect spend including production consumables, tooling, machine spares, maintenance supplies, facility services, safety equipment, and capital project support.
- Build and strengthen long-term relationships with both metals suppliers and MRO vendors — drive continuous improvement in quality, delivery, cost, and service across both categories.
- Identify and execute cost-reduction and optimization opportunities across direct materials and MRO spend — deliver measurable savings without compromising production uptime or quality.
- Maintain disciplined, cash-flow-efficient inventory for both raw metals and critical MRO items — ensure production and maintenance teams have what they need without tying up excess capital.
- Develop and execute the end-to-end supply chain strategy for both direct and indirect categories, partnering closely with Tie Down’s in-house business analytics and Power BI team to build advanced dashboards, forecast accurately, track KPIs, identify savings opportunities, and turn data into multimillion-dollar impact.
- Leverage ERP data, Power BI visualizations, and analytics team support to deliver clear, actionable reporting on metals pricing, MRO spend trends, supplier performance, inventory turns, and cost savings.
- Resolve disruptions quickly — whether it’s steel delivery delays, quality issues, or urgent MRO part shortages — and keep both production and facility operations running smoothly.
- Collaborate tightly with manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, finance, and leadership to align supply plans with aggressive growth and operational reliability goals.
- Lead and mentor a high-performance supply chain team — develop talent and build a data-driven, results-focused culture.
- Ensure full compliance with regulations, import requirements, and industry standards across all sourcing categories.- 5+ years of progressive purchasing/supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong background in strategic metals sourcing (coil steel, sheet, durable materials) and significant hands-on experience managing MRO/indirect procurement in a large facility.
- Proven success negotiating contracts and partnerships — both with metals mills/suppliers and MRO vendors — to secure cost-effective, reliable supply.
- Strong proficiency with robust ERP systems (Visual Manufacturing, SAP MM, Epicor, or similar) + solid data analytics experience; excitement to collaborate with our in-house Power BI and business analytics team to drive decisions and savings.- Stable career history with consistent advancement and increasing leadership scope.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects requiring excellent interpersonal, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep knowledge of supply chain fundamentals across direct materials and indirect/MRO categories — sourcing, inventory control, supplier management, cost optimization.
- Sharp analytical mindset with creative problem-solving; comfortable handling large data sets and multiple high-priority initiatives.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, modeling, forecasting) + strong Microsoft Office proficiency.- Exceptional communicator — confident negotiating with suppliers and presenting data-driven insights to senior leadership.
- Strategic thinker with tactical execution; adaptable and committed to continuous improvement.
- Experience in advanced metal fabrication environments (laser cutting, stamping, roll-forming, robotic welding, powder coating, injection molding).
- Familiarity with international freight, tariffs, and import compliance for metals.
- Background managing MRO categories such as tooling, industrial supplies, maintenance parts, facility services, or capital equipment support.
- Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (nice to have).
If you’re ready to run both strategic metals sourcing and a high-volume MRO program, use our internal analytics team to unlock big savings, and help power one of Atlanta’s most advanced manufacturing operations, apply now.
