We are expanding our data engineering capabilities to support the next phase of our industrial technology roadmap.
This role will focus primarily on
building and managing our data infrastructure—from databases and pipelines to near-real-time ingestion from industrial systems—while also contributing to the
maintenance and development of our PLC / HMI applications(RedLion Crimson & IDEC).
This is an ideal position for a
Data Engineer / DataOps engineer who has some exposure to industrial automationand wants to work closely with real-world hardware and operational technology.
· Employee will work in DCS’s engineering department, and report to the Engineering Manager – Data & IT
Data Engineering & Infrastructure (Primary Focus — ~80%)
- Design, build, optimize, and maintain databases, data warehouses, and/or data lake environments
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting industrial and operational datasets
- Implement best practices for data quality, governance, access control, and observability
- Improve performance and scalability of existing data infrastructure
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to design architecture for future data initiatives
Industrial Programs & Controls Support (Secondary Focus — ~20%)
- Maintain and enhance DCS’s industrial applications (RedLion Crimson HMI, IDEC PLC)
- Troubleshoot issues with industrial programs and assist in root-cause analysis
- Collaborate on feature updates or improvements to automation logic
- Ensure data acquisition from field systems is reliable and well-integrated into DCS’s data platforms
· Exposure to industrial automation or control systems (HMI/PLC/IPC, RedLion Crimson, Ignition, or comparable)
· Strong SQL fundamentals and experience with relational databases
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where deliverables and priorities change daily
· Experience with ETL/ELT tools, pipeline orchestration, performance tuning, and query optimization
· Working knowledge of cloud data technology (SQL Server/MySQL, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or similar)
· Experience with industrial data integration (OPC-UA, Modbus, or similar protocols)
· Willingness to learn industrial software (HMI/PLC/IPC) as needed
· Creative mindset, innovative tendencies, and self-motivated work ethic
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and support existing applications
