We are seeking a Data Engineer who is passionate about cloud engineering, energized by complex technical challenges, and eager to work on solutions that directly impact millions of customers and communities.
- Design, build, and maintain analytics infrastructure, data storage solutions, processing pipelines, and data‑management interfaces.
- Apply modern engineering practices including Agile, automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, observability, and secure‑by‑design principles.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance performance and reliability across production systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, software engineers, and grid subject‑matter experts to translate real operational challenges into elegant, maintainable solutions.
You’ll work with a broad set of AWS and engineering technologies, including:
- AWS Services: EMR, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, IAM, DynamoDB, Athena, S3, Lake Formation, ECR, CloudWatch (and more)
- Languages & Tools: SQL, Python, Terraform
- Practices: Agile, TDD, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD

- Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
- Minimum 1 years related work experience
- In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 3 year(s) related work experience
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services (S3, DynamoDB, Glue, Athena, EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Strong data‑management skills and proficiency with SQL
- Understanding of AWS infrastructure and tooling for building data and model workflows
- Experience with Python development
- Ability to design scalable solutions and balance performance with cost considerations
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, TDD, and CI/CD practices
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to build secure, reliable, and maintainable systems
- A collaborative, growth‑oriented mindset and enthusiasm for fast‑paced, cutting‑edge engineering work
- Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
