Contracts and Strategy Manager

Responsibilities

The Contracts and Strategy Manager will maximize the value of OPPD generation assets through leading strategy development, influence, and analysis of new and existing energy resource contracts. The Manager will engage and collaborate cross-functionally with internal business team leaders to identify and execute opportunities and lead efforts to ensure ongoing adherence to and strategies on energy resource contracts. The Manager will rely on their industry knowledge and business acumen to lead the development of creative solutions and deliver results in a technical environment.

- Strategy Development: Accountable to support the evolving strategy for OPPD's Generation Strategy and Origination division.

- Lead contract teams and negotiations.

- Lead the development of creative solutions for contracting structures, mergers and acquisitions, term sheets, memorandums of understanding, exclusivity agreements, capacity and energy contracts, and related energy resource contracts.

- Develop new contracts and amendments, including internal approval and execution.

- Analyze proposed contract amendments.

- Research and stay up to date on industry trends and innovative approaches in support of OPPD's contracts.

- Energy Resource Contract Management: Accountable for the management of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Power Sales Agreements, and other contracts in support of OPPD's energy resource portfolio.

- Act as the point of contact for contracts - will receive, prioritize, coordinate, and ensure OPPD and counter parties meet contract obligations and lead dispute resolution.

- Ensure compliance with contract milestones, and other deliverables.

- Identify and lead resolution of issues throughout the contract life cycle, such as force majeure claims, performance guarantees, project financing, disputes, and changes of ownership.

- Cross-Functional Coordination to Ensure Compliance:

- Coordinate across Energy Marketing and Trading, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Resource Planning, Regulatory Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment.

- Coordinate with and engage outside legal counsel as appropriate.

- Build and maintain relationships with contract counterparties.

Qualifications

Required:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or legal related area.

- 7 years of experience in engineering, energy marketing, transmission planning, transmission services, legal, or regulatory.

- Proven ability to develop relationships, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to interact and work directly with technical specialists, attorneys, and regulatory authorities.

Desired:

- Master's degree or Juris Doctorate.

- Demonstrated leadership of cross functional teams.

- Ability to absorb and summarize complex issues for non-technical audiences.
