About This Job

Solar Technologies, a leading Bay Area solar contractor is looking for Commercial Superintendents to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a great team while expanding experience on commercial solar projects.

Position Summary: The Superintendent is responsible for oversight, coordination, and successful completion of commercial PV projects. The Superintendent is a member of the leadership team, which includes the Lead Electricians and Foremen. Projects assigned throughout the Bay Area with occasionally travel outside of our local territory. Company vehicle will be provided.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure that all workers on a job site comply with all safety guidelines and regulations in adherence with OSHA regulations.

- Perform site evaluations for new projects. Surveying

- Work with Project Manager in project planning and identifying resources needed.

- Set the sequence and assignment of work to minimize exposure to job site safety risks in coordination with the Project Manager and Lead Electrician.

- Participate in pre-construction planning of projects, including plan review and comments, staffing projections, and project task sequencing.

- Establish and maintain effective communication channels with lead installers, project manager and project designers.

- Keep the project on budget and on time.

- Manage subcontractors, staffing, and equipment rentals.

- Translate and interpret construction schematics to actual installation.

- Ensure NEC and CBC Code compliance on installation of all electrical and mechanical components.

- Develop the construction team and promote support for defined goals, objectives, and assigned responsibilities.

- Maintain daily log of construction conditions, events, and progress using pictures.

- Provide evaluations of performance on subcontracts and temp labor staff and maintain records of safety meetings.

- Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with representatives from all the sub teams.

- Provides guidance and technical support to employees, temp labor, and subcontractors. The superintendent will provide crew member recommendations and responsible for employee evaluations.


Essential Skills

- 4 years working in PV industry in leadership role. (preferred)

- Proficient with computers, reading blueprints, plans and specs.

- Experience implementing quality control/quality assurance processes.

- Demonstrated Safe Working Practices and knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

- Understanding of construction math.

- Success at managing and delivering construction projects on schedule and under budget.

- Ability to analyze project scenarios and implement site-specific design modifications.

- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Proven ability to manage and motivate employees.

- Organized and able to meet deadlines.

- Great attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.

- Must have a clean driving record and a valid CA driver’s license.

- Successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check, and drug screen.


Required education:


- High school or equivalent


Required experience:

- Site Superintendent: 2 years

- Project site management: 4 years

- Commercial Solar Installation: 4 years (preferred)

- Commercial electrical: 4 years (preferred)
