To provide specialist analytical techniques; To carry out analytical techniques to determine ionic / elemental composition of water condensate and solid samples originating predominantly from the oil industry.
Key Activities And Accountabilities
- Perform physical experimentation associated with IC and ICP-OES, specifically
- Cations / elements by ICP-OES
- Cations by IC
- Anions by IC and IEC
- Halides by titration, pH measurements, alkalinity
- Resistivity, conductivity, density, fluoride and more
- Samples preparation (microwave digestion, fusion, ashing, filtration and/or dilution, standard addition)
- Record results, regularly monitor and interpret data. Ensure all laboratory data QA checks are carried out as efficiently as possible and that turnaround time objectives are met
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and technical support is provided to enable repairs to be carried out in a timely fashion to maximise sample throughput.
- Manage client specified work programs to ensure timely delivery of data.
- Interpret the measured data by use of laboratory software packages and calculation methods; record all such calculations and methods of working in laboratory work files and prepare the results in a format suitable for presentation to Clients.
- Manage calibration and verification of laboratory equipment to ensure all instruments remain within the agreed verification and calibration regime.
- Support training of new and existing staff to meet staff competency levels; including contributing/writing staff EDPs and skill matrix reviews.
- Purchase and commissioning of new equipment to maintain and grow analytical capabilities.
- Always be aware of safety considerations and bring any perceived safety issues to the attention of the Fluids Laboratory Manager (or Lead) without delay.
- Manage and Co-ordinate laboratory staff and equipment to maximise throughput while maintaining quality requirements.
- Perform PVT and Compositional analysis on demand.
- Actively adhere to the Code of Conduct and Anti-Bribery policies, procedures and processes to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained and exposure to liability or risk to Expro’s reputation is minimised. If necessary, report possible violations or conflicts of interest.
- Actively adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable Quality policies, procedures, processes and systems. Take an active part in quality improvement processes. Identify and report any deficiencies to supervisor and obtain authorisation for any deviations from standard procedures.
- Actively comply with all applicable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and processes. Promote HSE awareness; take responsibility and be accountable for own safety and safety of others. Demonstrate the personal application of HSE procedures in daily performance and always follow the 12 Safety House Rules.
- Ensure objectives set under Employee Development Plan are met.
- Degree educated in science discipline.
- Knowledge of water chemistry analytical techniques.
- 5+ years laboratory experience in operating IC and ICP- OES instruments, along with general laboratory procedures.- Desirable to have experience with EPA/NELAP accreditation and certification for water analysis.
- Satisfactory result of pre-employment screening (drug/alcohol test, background check, etc.).
