The Board of Directors of Burlington Enterprises Corporation (BEC) is seeking applications from qualified candidates interested in serving on the Burlington Hydro Inc. (BHI) Board of Directors.
BHI is a regulated and licensed affiliate subsidiary of BEC – an energy services company wholly owned by the City of Burlington. BHI provides electricity distribution services to approximately 69,500 residential and commercial customers in Burlington.
The BHI Board is responsible for guiding a successful and well-managed company that serves a growing and evolving community. We are currently seeking a new member to join the board in Fall 2026, bringing strong executive experience in human resources.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Executive leadership experience at the C-suite level, with a strong background in human resources, including succession planning, executive compensation, and CEO performance management
- Board experience, ideally within a regulated business or agency
- Prior involvement with Board HR and Compensation Committees
- Experience working with government or regulatory bodies, preferably with insight into the Ontario electricity distribution sector, is considered an asset
- A recognized professional director designation (e.g., C. Dir or ICD.D) is considered an asset
- Deep understanding of corporate governance, strategic planning, and board-level oversight
Candidates must demonstrate honesty, integrity, independence, and financial soundness. Preference will be given to individuals who are residents or business owners within the City of Burlington, as local knowledge and community involvement are highly valued. A modest compensation is offered.
