Overview:
The Assistant Project Director supports the Project Director in overseeing operations, compliance, staff performance, and client satisfaction across Oklahoma City’s four wastewater treatment facilities. This role focuses on process control, safety leadership, regulatory compliance, asset management, and team development.
Oklahoma "A" Wastewater license required or ability to obtain within six weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operations and process control to ensure permit compliance and optimal plant performance.
- Build strong relationships with the City of Oklahoma City and maintain excellent client communication.
- Lead and develop staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and scheduling.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee regulatory reporting (DMRs, MORs, inspections, audits) and maintain accurate documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, financial tracking, and procurement of materials, chemicals, and services.
- Support asset management, including CMMS accuracy, preventive maintenance, and capital planning.
- Drive continuous improvement, SOP development, and cross-facility standardization.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and wastewater operations experience.
- 5 years in water/wastewater operations; supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Oklahoma wastewater operator certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in office and plant environments; lift up to 50 lbs; safely navigate industrial areas.
