ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES – Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Management Team in managing a wide range of solar PV projects, including roof mounts, ground mounts, battery storage, and new construction projects. They are responsible for moving projects from point of sale to final close-out, including planning, safety, schedule, quality, and client interactions. The PM is responsible for successfully executing the day-to-day affairs of their projects in terms of construction, documentation, and close-out, and directs the project management team resources including Design Specialists, Permit Specialist, Warehouse personnel, Crew Leaders, Electricians, and Installers. They work closely with the Operations team to follow project timelines while coordinating and integrating the activities associated with projects’ requirements. These include engineering, procurement, preconstruction planning, subcontractor coordination, and DC and AC installations. They ensure proper safety measures are met, quality standards are upheld, and projects are closed out expeditiously. This position reports to the Director of Construction. This is an in-person position.
- Attend and contribute to safety meetings
- Review scope and details of incoming contracts, developing and customizing project tasks according to project scope specifics
- Manage project documentation according to Company processes
- Schedule site visits with customer and design resources
- Review project designs at each design stage, identifying any changes from contracted scope
- Facilitate change order process when necessary
- Monitor project progress throughout project lifecycle
- Plan safety means and ways, material loading, access, timeline, and construction activities for each project
- Facilitate weekly residential installation planning meetings
- Maintain complete project records, photos, and documentation using Company processes
- Participate in installation scheduling
- Give regular status updates to customers, managing expectations as timelines change
- Ensure all project materials are ordered, received, and kitted in time for mobilization
- Prepare Crew Leader and Electricians for DC and AC installs
- Monitor construction progress daily
- Answer field questions, escalating where appropriate
- Manage project tasking in Company software
- Sit inspections, as needed
- Review commissioning documentations for completion
- Prepare owner’s manual and other closeout documentation
- Ensure system operation, troubleshooting as necessary
- Perform remote or in-person customer walkthrough of system
- Review project expenses for accuracy, noting any corrections
- Must be able to work in the US
- Must pass pre-employment background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean MVR to operate company vehicles
- OSHA 30 (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in the construction industry
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and other productivity software
- Knowledge of residential or commercial PV design and components
- NABCEP PVIP (increases compensation)

- $55,000-$60,000.00 annual salary
- Participation in Quarterly Gainsharing Incentive bonus program of up to $5,000 annually
