POSITION OVERVIEW – Asset Integrity Construction Representative ( Tank Team Rep)
The Asset Integrity Construction Representative supports asset integrity projects including NDE inspections, tank maintenance activities, and daily chemical treatment program duties across MCBU’s Central, Midland Basin, and Delaware Basin areas.
This role is primarily responsible for day-to-day oversight of contractor-executed asset integrity work, ensuring compliance with Managing Safe Work (MSW) standards, construction guidelines, and Clients Control of Work requirements. The position serves as a key liaison between Asset Integrity, Field Operations, contractors, and planners to ensure safe and efficient execution of tank and facility-related construction activities.
- Complete Client’s Managing Safe Work Training for Permit Approvers and Persons Managing Control of Work (PMCoW).
- Create and/or assist in drafting work permits and work plans with the PMCoW.
- Verify all permit conditions prior to accepting and signing permits as Permit Approver.
- Perform permit re-validations in accordance with Client’s Control of Work Standards.
- Ensure Construction Standards are utilized and understood by Business Partners.
- Coordinate work schedules in conjunction with Asset Integrity Planners.
- Communicate execution status with Asset Integrity Planners and Fixed Equipment Inspectors (daily tracker updates).
- Report HSE incidents and near misses related to personnel and environmental upsets.
- Approve, track, and input daily field costs.
- Coordinate Work Orders with Field Planners (EIS isolation/de-isolation, PRV testing, Thief Hatch repairs/testing).
- Communicate and coordinate planned work with Field Operations Team (FOT) personnel including Field Specialists, Surface Production Specialists, and Production Supervisors.
- Coordinate tank liquid hauling/removal with Operations Teams and approved trucking vendors.
- Conduct in-field scoping for work preparation and planning.
- Develop Equipment Isolation Plans (EIPs) and coordinate approvals with Operations and PMCoW.
- Order parts and coordinate resources (cranes, hauling services, replacement valves/piping, hydro-vac, welding repairs, etc.).
- Approve field tickets based on completed work.
- Accept completed work from tank cleaning/coating vendors.
- Coordinate hydro testing upon completion of tank work.
- Coordinate Tank Team Handover documentation or PSSR if MOC was completed.- Strong demonstrated safety leadership behaviors.
- Extensive construction site experience.
- Experience developing and utilizing SOPs, PTW systems, JSAs, SIMOPS, risk mitigation plans, and contractor safety processes.
- Strong understanding and application of Human Performance principles, with emphasis on SIF prevention.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations.
- Working knowledge of API 570, API 510, API 653, and API 12R1 preferred.
- Extensive experience in construction planning, inspection, commissioning, maintenance, and facility upgrade projects (greenfield and brownfield).
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, pipeline plans, and contracts.
- Knowledge of Client’s MSA and design/construction standards (MCBU Design Guidelines, Engineering Standards, Safe Work Practices, Safety in Design).
- Ability to provide constructability and system maintainability input for new and upgraded facilities.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to plan and organize construction activities (scheduling, work plans, bid walks, safety plans, cost tracking, materials management, project turnover).
- Experience managing contractors and influencing safety, quality, and efficiency performance.
- Ability to resolve field issues collaboratively and assess alternatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Office 365, SharePoint, OneNote, and related collaboration tools.
- Ability to build positive relationships with field personnel, contractors, regulators, and technical teams.
- Comfortable communicating with multiple Project Engineers and stakeholders.
- Ability to tactfully manage conflict and mentor contractors, peers, and engineers.
