Asset Integrity Cathodic Protection Technician - Tulsa

The Asset Integrity Cathodic Protection Technician is primarily responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the Company's cathodic protection procedures, performing tests to evaluate the integrity of the pipeline, maintaining records to document the results of the testing, and monitoring the use of cathodic protection in new installations and during maintenance to existing installations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary.

1. Complies with DOT and OSHA health, safety and environmental requirements and follows safety philosophy and procedures developed by the Company including: applicable environmental, health and safety rules, procedures, and accepted safe work practices, the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems, and the reporting of workplace hazards and injury or illness arising from workplace activities; observes the workplace to identify conditions or behaviors that should be corrected and takes appropriate action.

2. Conducts or coordinates corrosion control surveys, interference tests, and cathodic protection failure investigations; evaluates the results to identify potential issues, and makes recommendations to correct any identified deficiencies, therefore improving the Company’s cathodic protection systems and techniques.

3. Designs cathodic protection mitigation systems for both new and existing systems by preparing engineering drawings of rectifiers, ground beds, and test leads and monitors the continued services to support the Company's corrosion control program including installation of test leads, installation or repair of rectifiers, and the installation of ground beds and magnesium anodes.

4. Prepares Requests for Proposal’s (RFP's), contracts, and work orders to obtain external cathodic protection services, materials, and equipment. Prepares bid packets for corrosion control projects; evaluates the quality of the proposals and prepares contracts for the projects.

5. Monitors the project’s annual budget; prepares reports on financial activity and variances of actual expenses from the budget; verifies and approves time sheets, expense reports, and invoices relating to the projects for payment; monitors the

costs and schedule of cathodic protection projects and takes corrective actions to ensure that projects complete on schedule and under budget.

6. Prepares engineering drawings of rectifiers, ground beds, and test leads to support installation projects.

7. Supervises contract personnel during the installation and testing of cathodic protection systems.

8. Locates and marks the position of pipelines to avoid damage during construction projects.

9. Evaluates property damage during construction projects and recommends settlement amounts.

10. Performs or coordinates maintenance on existing cathodic protection services by energizing, testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting the equipment.

11. Evaluates the reliability, usefulness, and cost of new corrosion control equipment and recommends new corrosion control systems or revisions to existing facilities.

12. Prepares reports recommending changes in the Company’s current cathodic protection standards, procedures, practices, and Corrosion Manual based on data analysis and industry findings.

13. Develops corrosion control training programs and monitors the training of company personnel.

14. Maintains corrosion control records supporting regulatory requirements.

15. Represents the Company in industry and regulatory meetings and audits dealing with corrosion control.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

- An Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology or related field or equivalent in experience and a minimum of two years’ experience is required. NACE Cathodic Protection (CP) Technician certification is also required.
