Job Summary
The Internal Integrity Technician (API 510/570) is responsible for supporting and executing mechanical integrity programs for pipelines, piping, pressure vessels, tanks, and pressure safety valves (PSVs). This role works closely with Regulatory Engineers, Operations, Maintenance, and HSE to ensure compliance with company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements while maintaining safe and reliable operations.
Responsibilities
Conduct all work in a safe manner, whether working independently or as part of a team, in full compliance with company HSE policies and procedures.
Interface with Houston Regulatory Engineers regarding compliance programs and integrity initiatives.
Support all pipeline, piping, PSV, tank, and vessel integrity programs.
Develop and maintain accurate records for surveys, inspections, testing, and special projects; communicate findings to the Integrity Engineer.
Assist in tracking, analyzing, and achieving integrity program KPIs; provide recommendations for performance improvement.
Participate in root cause investigations related to equipment damage or failures, particularly where corrosion is present; ensure proper quarantine and handling of failed components for laboratory analysis.
Assist in scoping integrity work and guide product/material selection and performance evaluation.
Coordinate and direct sampling activities and ensure proper delivery of samples to qualified vendors for testing and analysis.
Apply working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, NACE) in evaluating PSVs, vessels, piping systems, and related equipment.
Ensure work notifications are generated in SAP; verify that work order documentation and feedback are completed at the conclusion of each job or project.
Collaborate effectively with HSE, Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and other functional groups.
Support special integrity projects as assigned.
Assist with preparation of job plans, contracts, budgeting, and cost forecasting associated with integrity activities.
Licenses/ Certifications
Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required.
Current API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector) certification
Current API 570 (Piping Inspector) certification
Qualifications/ Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a 510 inspector
Strong understanding of ASME, API, and NACE standards
Experience with mechanical integrity programs in oil & gas or related industry
Working knowledge of SAP or similar CMMS systems
Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Physical requirements typically include standing, stooping, walking, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and wearing various personal protective equipment (PPE) in extreme variations of temperature year-round. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential, physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
