Job Overview
Internships provide opportunities to learn and apply accounting and tax principles in office settings, through a combination of team and individual project assignments. Devon offers corporate internships that depend on the candidates' experience and the availability of projects.
Major Responsibilities
Duties are those that would typically be assigned to an entry level accountant. Interns apply general principles, theories and concepts of accounting and tax to assignments such as preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, automation of processes, and to assist with government agency severance tax and royalty returns. Tasks could include the following:
- Reviewing and Coding vendor Invoices
- Reviewing and processing Non-Operated invoices
- Determining Capital vs Expense vs G&A on financial statements
- Prepare Journal Entries and reconciliations as required
- Determining appropriate financial authority for invoice approvals (Sarbanes Oxley)
- Applying an understanding of Automation processes and how deeply they integrate into daily work
- Responsible for vendor Invoice reporting which includes Discounts and Past Due Invoices
- Communicate Devon's procedures for invoicing and payments to vendors and field staff
- Prepare and review Financial Reports as required
- Apply and code cash payments and necessary
