Job Summary
The Vice President of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in process improvement, project management, and business development. Responsibilities
•Safety Leadership: Maintain a relentless focus on safety and housekeeping, fostering a zero-harm workplace culture.
•Manufacturing Management: Oversee plant operations, optimizing efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
•Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term operational strategies to enhance production and profitability.
•Performance Accountability: Work with senior leadership to establish KPIs and drive accountability in achieving results.
•Asset & Facility Oversight: Manage large capital assets, ensuring proper utilization, maintenance, and lifecycle optimization.
•Process Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
•Compliance & Regulations: Ensure adherence to industry regulations and safety standards.
•Workforce Development: Lead, mentor, and empower operations personnel, fostering a culture of high performance.
Qualifications
•Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in operations management.
•Proven track record in running a manufacturing facility with large capital assets.
•Expertise in metals recycling and rotary furnace operations (preferred).
•Strong knowledge of budgeting, procurement, and supply chain management.
•Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive team performance.
•Educational background in Engineering a benefit
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – VP of Operations
The following KPIs will be used to measure performance in safety, operations, efficiency, and workforce accountability.
1. Safety & Compliance Metrics:
•Injury Incident Rate (IIR) – Measures frequency of workplace injuries.
•Days Away from Work (DAW) Rate – Tracks severity and lost-time incidents.
•Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) – Monitors safety trends over time.
•Safety Audit Compliance Score – Ensures adherence to protocols.
•Near Miss Reporting Rate – Encourages proactive hazard identification.
2. Operational Efficiency Metrics:
•Throughput Rate – Tracks manufacturing output and process efficiency.
•Production Volume (lbs.) – Measures total metal processed in the facility.
•Metal Recovery Rate – Optimizes yield from recycling and furnace operations.
•Downtime Reduction % – Evaluates equipment reliability and uptime.
3. Quality & Reliability Metrics:
•Defect Rate % – Ensures high product quality while minimizing waste.
•On-Time Delivery % – Measures production scheduling efficiency.
•Customer Returns & Complaints – Tracks product satisfaction trends.
4. Workforce & Performance Metrics:
•Workforce Productivity Rate – Assesses employee efficiency per labor hour.
•Safety Training Completion Rate – Ensures all employees receive proper training.
•Corrective Actions Closure Rate – Tracks resolution of safety issues.
These KPIs will serve as a structured framework for measuring success and driving operational excellence
