Description of responsibilities: The Senior Vice President of Public Affairs & Communications is responsible for shaping and executing the public affairs strategies that align with the organization's business plan and strategic goals. The position is responsible for media relations, intergovernmental relations, and community outreach, including the development, management, and implementation of strategic communications with various stakeholders, including customers, employees, government agencies, community organizations, and media representatives. In the absence of the Chief Executive Officer, this position serves as the spokesperson for Capital Region Water. As the Public Information Officer, this position is responsible for emergency and crisis communications, including timely and accurate dissemination of information, media relations, and media monitoring. Working under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Vice President, Public Affairs & Communications is the bridge between the organization and our community, shaping how we are perceived, influencing policy, and ensuring our voice is heard in the right places.
Required experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience in public affairs and communications, or commensurate experience and education.
Required skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Knowledge of photography and videography and/or ability to plan and execute photographic and video graphic coverage
Ability to certify in FEMA PIO; including social media certification
Proficiency in language translation software solutions. Spanish language skills preferred
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, or a related field, or commensurate experience and education. Master’s degree preferred.
