Lead strategic sourcing, material innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on cost optimization, substitution opportunities, and supply chain efficiency. This role requires a strong Manufacturing Engineering background to review Bills of Materials (BoMs), identify alternatives, and collaborate with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing teams. The Supply Chain Lead will play a key role in shaping supply chain strategy and cross-functional decision-making.
· Analyze existing Bills of Materials to identify cost reduction and substitution opportunities.
· Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing teams to propose alternative materials, components, or design adjustments.
· Lead value analysis / value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives tied to product cost and manufacturability.
· Understand technical specifications and requirements to help source better products or find new ideas from suppliers.
· Develop and execute sourcing strategies for critical materials and components.
· Identify new suppliers, negotiate contracts, and evaluate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
· Drive supplier innovation and monitor supplier performance against KPIs.
· Implement process improvements across procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing interfaces.
· Establish metrics to monitor sourcing efficiency, supplier performance, quality assurance, and substitution outcomes.
· Mentor and support the purchasing team to elevate strategic thinking.
· Lead initiatives that have a direct impact on supply chain strategy and cross-functional decision-making.
· Evaluate supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans.
· Contribute to long-term planning for supply chain capacity, supplier base, and process improvements.
· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management (MBA or advanced degree is a plus).
· 2–3 years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing engineering in manufacturing/design-driven environments.
· Strong background in BoM review, materials substitution, design-for-cost, and value engineering.
· Experience negotiating with suppliers, managing contracts, and balancing cost, quality, and risk.
· Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
· Analytical, process-oriented, and comfortable working with cost models and TCO analysis.
