Position Summary:
Assists warehouse personnel with the overall operations of the storeroom including inventory control, reconciliation, and planning.
Criteria: Education/Experience:
High school diploma (GED) with at least one year of experience in warehouse operations and inventory control along with good computer skills.
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent customer relations skills and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask. Ability to think logically in solving problems. PC literate.
Certifications/Licenses:
Forklift certification or willing to obtain within six months.
Physical Demands:
Able to lift, carry and use heavy tools and material. Able to climb and perform work from a ladder. Able to safely operate a standard equipped JEA motor vehicle. Able to communicate orally by phone and person-to-person. Able to see/read money and/or other printed material.
Work Environment:
Indoor office/warehouse conditions and outdoor material storage/delivery conditions. May work at different warehouse locations within JEA.
Driving:
Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee Class “D” license. Tennessee Tank Helper A certification.
Telephone:
Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Loads and unloads materials and supplies.
- Assists with stocking materials and supplies.
- Assists with physical inventories.
- Assists in issuing and receiving materials and supplies.
- Assists with order picking for crews/contractors.
- Assists in ordering miscellaneous supplies.
- Operates mechanical material handling equipment as needed.
- Cleans and sweeps areas as designated.
- Sorts and organizes materials for stock.
- Empties all garbage containers and dump trash hoppers.
- Maintains cleanliness of storeroom company vehicles.
- Delivers material and supplies as needed.
- Answers phones, as needed.
- Keys issues, returns, transfers and receipts into system as needed.
- Processes receipts, transfers, and other paperwork as needed.
- Assists with weekly cycle counts of warehouse inventory.
- Files purchase order folders. Enters edits and/or posts to purchase order files.
- Utilizes basic computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Assists in always maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Interacts with JEA software programs daily.
- Assists with Mail Courier duties when needed.
- Assists with UPS and freight shipments.
- Prepares for SP2, TOSHA, and inventory audits.
- Maintains records for forklift inspections, waste oil tank levels, etc.
- Coordinates with vendors, dispatchers, and truck drivers for delivery.
- Performs additional duties as requested.
