Join Suncor’s Mine Technical team and help shape the future of our mining assets. We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills to drive performance and continuous improvement across our sites.
Reporting to the Director, Mine Operational Improvement, you will play a key role in providing short- to long-range mine engineering support and analysis. Your work will help optimize equipment deployment and fleet strategies across all of Suncor’s mining operations, integrating technical, operational, and maintenance perspectives to support regional success.

- Lead regional fleet strategy initiatives, providing analysis and recommendations to optimize equipment allocation, deployment, and future procurement across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with mine technical, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure alignment and endorsement of regional strategies and recommendations.
- Identify and evaluate planning opportunities and risks, using sensitivity and scenario analysis to quantify impacts.
- Act as a subject matter expert, leading communities of practice and supporting regional initiatives.
- Benchmark operational performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate key findings and ensure alignment with regional and asset leadership.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in mine engineering, planning, operations, or projects with Experience working across multiple assets or operations.
- An undergraduate degree in Mining or Geological Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA.
- Broad technical background encompassing mining, reclamation, geotechnical/geological engineering, and tailings planning.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex technical and operational issues.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Oil sands or large-scale open-pit mine planning experience.
- Proficiency with mine planning and scheduling software such as Minescape, Vulcan, or XPAC/OSS.
- This position is office-based, with a location at Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Avenue S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- Travel to site as required
