The position is responsible for overseeing all DOT, and Health & Safety compliance for Federal, State and Local regulations.
- Lead and oversee all aspects of development, implementation, and management of the Company’s DOT Trucking Compliance Programs, including CMV Files, DOT Driver Qualification Files, Vehicle Inspections, Hours of Service, etc.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and OSHA
- Works with various department heads to ensure work procedures and policies are followed to maintain a safe working environment
- Keep abreast of any changes in the laws surrounding the industry
- Works HR and Dispatchers and provides input in yearly Driver Evaluations (in all markets)
- Works with dispatch on hiring and termination of drivers
- Works with driver trainers to assure proper training is being taught
- Assist in general terminal management to ensure compliance and accountability measures are met
- Investigate all accidents
- Report claims that require the insurance company to be involved
- Manage Tank Compliance and any foreseeable tank issues.
- Inspections and repairs for NEL and GLP facilities
- Facilitate and perform inspections of all NEL and GLP vehicles
- Maintaining facilities up to osha standards and updating them as OSHA changes
- Monitoring GLP and NEL CSA scores working with pertaining departments for failing categories.
- All DOT annual filings
- Compliance with Samsara with all pertaining employees on all federal, local regulations
- Facilitate Audits within Samsara for driver files, oversee improving how we use Samsara
- Oversee RTA/TMT and how we use RTA/TMT for DOT regs and company costs
- Perform safety meetings based off need and current issues per location
- Investigate, report and monitor all accidents, spills for insurance
- Maintain and update all aspects of the company to stay within our captive insurance requirements
- Maintain and update our safety program, tank compliance program
- Manage all employees of the safety department, driver trainer development
- B.S. in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety, or related Science Discipline is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State DOT, Health & Safety Trucking Regulations, especially the DOT’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations, and Drug & Alcohol Regulations
- Strong leadership and organization, with the ability to prioritize duties and achieve goals with limited supervision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of computers and typical production software (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with company personnel at all levels
