Position Summary
The Real Estate & Right-of-Way (ROW) Intern supports CoServ’s Real Estate Services team with activities related to real property, easements, permitting, and right of way management. This internship provides hands-on experience working with real estate records, easement documentation, permitting processes, and communication with internal teams. The intern will assist with research, document preparation, coordination with agencies, and data entry to help ensure CoServ’s real estate assets are properly documented and maintained. This role is ideal for students studying real estate, business, geography, legal studies, engineering technology, or related fields.
Intern responsibilities are supportive in nature and designed to build foundational experience.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining real estate records, easements, and related documents.
- Help review and process requests involving CoServ rights-of-way and permitted encroachments.
- Support the team in researching historical land records and gathering property information.
- Assist with creating, updating, or tracking easement and service contract files.
- Help review plans, drawings, maps, and design documents submitted for easements, encroachments or property changes.
- Assist in preparing draft documents such as emails, letters, and basic real estate forms under supervision.
- Capture and enter data from easements, service agreements, and encroachments into internal systems.
- Assist in verifying data accuracy across platforms, including GIS database updates.
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Project Management teams on routine ROW-related tasks.
- Provide general departmental support, including information gathering, research, and administrative assistance.
- Help ensure documents are recorded properly in internal systems or land records (as assigned).
- Support communication with internal staff about permitting and platting needs.
- Assist with file organization, scanning, distributing documents, and other clerical support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in:
- - Real Estate, Business, Geography, Legal Studies, Engineering, Public Administration, or related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Interest in real estate law, property management, or utilities.
- Familiarity with maps, plats, or basic property records.
- Experience with GIS or mapping systems.
- Coursework related to real estate, land development, surveying, or legal documentation.
- Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
