The Purchasing Intern performs key tasks in support of several service areas provided by Carmeuse’s Purchasing Department. The role’s primary emphasis is the collection and distribution of information related to existing Purchasing programs. Additionally, the role should promote continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to streamline effort in order to assist in additional areas. The Purchasing Intern will communicate frequently with all levels of the company plus several suppliers.
- Handle a variety of tasks to assist the Purchasing Department
- Utilize SAP (ERP system) to manage transactions
- Participate in procurement strategy
- Assist and conduct Requests for Proposals (RFP’s)
- Supplier and internal communications
- Supplier evaluation and negotiations
- Management of supplier database
- Invoice reconciliation
- Other projects as needed
- Undergraduate or graduate business student; Supply Chain focus a plus
- Solid communication and analytical skills
- Willingness to work with a variety of team members
- High energy level and ability to multi-task
- Desire to learn and take on responsibility
- Conduct all interactions in a professional manner
