Step into a fast-paced supply chain seat where you’ll keep materials moving, suppliers informed, and the shop stocked. As a Purchasing and Logistics Associate, you’ll help choose products, place and track purchase orders, coordinate freight, and support hands-on warehouse tasks that keep operations running smoothly.
- Morning: Review overnight PO confirmations and vendor updates. Send quick follow-ups to suppliers and internal teams about any changes in price, quantity, or lead time.
- Midday: Arrange inbound and outbound freight—LTL, FTL, or sprinter vans—based on timelines and cost. Track shipments and update team members on status.
- Afternoon: Reconcile paperwork (BOLs, packing lists, and related documents). Monitor supplier performance and pricing trends; log insights for future sourcing decisions.
- Throughout the day: Jump in to help load and unload materials from trucks, pallets, and storage areas, checking shipments and following safety protocols. Keep consumables and tooling inventory in balance and pitch in across the shop when needed.
- Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure clear, timely communication.
- Assist with product selection and vendor sourcing, weighing cost, quality, and lead-time tradeoffs.
- Create, issue, and monitor purchase orders; track confirmations and any changes.
- Track vendor performance, pricing movements, and delivery reliability to inform buying decisions.
- Coordinate inbound/outbound freight (LTL, FTL, sprinter vans) with carriers and track shipments.
- Manage freight documentation, including BOLs and packing lists.
- Communicate delays or plan changes to onsite/shop personnel.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels for consumables and tooling.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area; follow safety procedures during all material handling.
- Support other shop functions as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational habits.
- Comfort in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
- Clear, concise communication skills with both vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to anticipate changes and adjust priorities to keep operations efficient.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and commitment to safety.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to bend, reach, and lift as part of daily tasks.
