Summary: TWB Valley City is seeking a Project Engineering Intern this summer session! Summer internships are expected to take place between May 11 and August 14, 2026.

Selected interns are assigned based on their field of study and interests within our company. Project(s): Projects are planned based on anticipated departmental needs but may be altered based on business needs or selected intern’s skills or interests.

The intern will focus on optimizing of wire feed parameters on hot formed ablated welds, executing design improvements, and implementing changes to the wire feed system equipment.

Skills developed: deeper knowledge of press hardening steel, evaluating shortcomings of existing equipment, brainstorming solutions, designing solution using CAD and 3D modeling, data acquisition, detailed observation, communication, problem solving, strategic planning, presenting, documenting, executing a project plan

Work Environment: Intern should be prepared to spend time working on the plant floor in addition to the office environment. Hands-on work is expected. Appropriate safety training and PPE will be provided.

Basic Qualifications:

- Major in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering in an accredited program or an alternate degree with relevant experience

- Completion of Freshman Year by summer of 2026

- Proficient in CAD, 3D Modeling, and mechanical design

- Experience using basic hand tools and machine assembly and repair

- General engineering skills and knowledge of welding processes

- Working knowledge of statistics

- Proficient in using computers, learning new systems, and critical thinking

- Active listener who can receive and follow directions

- Takes initiative and is driven to identify opportunities for improvement

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Punctuality and commitment to doing the job right

- Interest in Manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:

- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

- Laser Welding experience

- Previous internship in manufacturing environment

- Willingness to travel to the Worthington Corporate Materials Lab (CML) in Columbus, Ohio and TWB Monroe, MI
