PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provides key support for the cooperative's Community Relations and Economic Development programs and the Chief Operating Officer's staff. As part of the administrative team, this position supports all departments to help ensure the cooperative's overall operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
•Provide outstanding customer service to internal customers within the group and to other groups, and to external customers as appropriate.
•Provides support and administrative assistance to Community Relations for community programs.
•Assist with coordination of events including the CLC luncheons/dinners, MAC meetings and MAC/CLC Christmas dinners.
•Assist Director of Community Relations with Members Foundation grant tracking and communications.
•Assist Director of Community Relations on Operation Round Up promotions and reports.
•Assist Director of Community Relations along with school/teacher/student for Bright Ideas, safety programs, Youth Tour and other academic-related programs.
•Assist Director of Community Relations with the Leadership Track including the bi-monthly newsletter, open houses, student/parent correspondence and other Leadership Track events.
•Serves as key program support for USDA REDLG and Blue Ridge Energy Revolving Loan Fund, including document creation and process administration. Provides timely and accurate communication with USDA, loan recipients and internal departments. Maintain updated REDLG documentation internally and with USDA LINC system.
•Orders and maintains inventory of promotional items for supported departments.
•Provides occasional creative assistance for marketing efforts for cooperative and subsidiaries.
•Coordinates internal and external events for supported departments.
•Assist and support the Director of Marketing and Director of Energy Solutions and supporting teams with all necessary activities as identified.
•Work with other support services staff as a team to handle system administration work, provide rotating primary back up in front reception area, and perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Formal course instruction obtained at an accredited college or university is preferred. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Additional training in general office practices and procedures including spelling, letter composition, and typing, filing and related area is required.
Experience: Minimum 3 three years' experience in administrative work required. Strong proficiency necessary with Microsoft Office products on PC (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with software for design, photo-editing, project management, email marketing, web design and/or social media preferred. Experience with contract creation is beneficial. Ability to use various business machines (i.e. personal computer, calculator, fax, etc.) required.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
•Must maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of the secretarial, communications and community relations field and general understanding of office practices and procedures.
•Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively via phone, writing, digitally and in-person to internal and external audiences, both groups and one-on-one.
•Must be highly organized and adept at managing multiple projects for multiple departments.
•Must be able to function cooperatively as a team member to meet group goals and objectives, set and meet deadlines, and plan and organize own work, carrying out routine delegations with a minimum of supervision.
•Must be able to retain information of a confidential nature.
•Must be able to produce reports on projects in a timely manner and to deliver desired results on given timelines and budgets.
Normal Work Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Driver's License Requirement: Must possess a valid NC driver's license and have a safe driving record.
Overtime Status: Is subject to the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended.
