Perform shaped charge set-up on the hydraulic presses to manufacture the components of the completed shape charge while working in a moderate to fast-paced hands-on assembly process. This position requires on-site presence and regular attendance to perform the essential duties.
- Performs duties in a safety intensive environment where everyone’s safety is paramount.
- Works under direct supervision of trainer and supervisor.
- Troubleshoots a shaped charge that has not met required specifications, based on performance, to bring the specifications back to acceptable performance levels.
- Performs tasks in support of the shape charge assembly procedures as needed.
- Complies with safety, quality and job specific policies and procedures and takes appropriate action when they become aware of any non-conformance.
- Completes applicable paperwork and demonstrates that they can meet the general requirements and job duties of the position with normal supervision.
- Performs normal requirements for setting up and breaking down hydraulic presses.
- Maintains a clean work area that is neat and well organized.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment / Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work settings range from clean indoor lab to unprotected outdoor environments. The employee frequently handles packaged/boxed explosives, explosive articles and/or explosive powders and pellets. This may also involve instructing others in the proper handling, use, storage and transportation of these explosives. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee frequently works with powders, sometimes in a dusty environment and occasionally around fumes. Workers must not be overly sensitive (allergies, rashes, etc.) to working in these conditions. While rare, any accident could be catastrophic and potentially result in injury or death to many employees.

Stand, walk, sit, climb or balance; and twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities that are required by this job include: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements relate to obtaining a valid driver’s license and recognizing current Hazmat warning labels or markings that are color coded.
- High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
- A self-starter with good hands-on mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Detail oriented and can focus on small defects.
- Able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
- Able to meet ATF & regulatory security requirements.
- Must be US citizen, or lawful permanent resident of the United States (student Visa does not qualify), in accordance with ATF regulations.
