Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Power Generation Plant Owner's Representative to oversee O&M company, manage large projects, ensure compliance, and represent owners interests during development and operation of energy facilities (power generation plants). This position will handle technical details, financials, community relations, and contractors, bridging gaps between owners and energy activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in diesel engines, electrical systems, and mechanical repair, combined with excellent communication skills to liaise effectively between project teams, contractors, and owner. - Act as an advocate for the owner with communities, contractors and government laws.
- Provide expertise in energy, grid systems and construction standards.
- Manage contractors, ensure quality, control costs and keep projects on schedule.
- Help navigate complex permits, utility interconnection and environmental laws.
- Provide leadership, coordination, direction and oversight of management/supervisory personnel assigned to power generation facilities.
- Assist clients to organize, plan and implement the optimal type of energy project to secure major improvements with no upfront capital costs.
- Set project scope of work for Energy Services Contractors (ESCOs), write RFPs, and assist in ESCO selection and contract negotiations.
- Optimize vendor contracts, ensuring fairness to both parties.
- Review technical feasibility, savings, costs, financing, commissioning plans, measurement and verification plans, O&M, and training to ensure expected savings or fair payments are realized.
- Identify and ensure all funding sources, such as grants, rebates, and incentives are maximized and secured to mitigate capital costs.
- Conduct forensic analyses of energy projects and help negotiate fair indemnification whenever possible.
- Plan and implement strategies and action plans to ensure that the operations group supports strategic imperatives by developing and coordinating systems and programs to promote cost effective operations in line with company objectives.
- Facilitate operational and process engineering changes as necessary to improve site profitability, coordinating effective processes throughout the organization.
- Provide guidance to meet safety, quality, and financial targets.
- Coordinate fulfillment of obligations to its contract counterparties and the energy markets.
- Assure gas and electricity marketing processes are optimized to provide a benefit to business goals and objectives.
- Oversee the environmental control programs for issues relating to compliance, ensuring maintenance of high professional standards for environmental compliance.
- Assist in the development and execution of company annual business plans.
- Ensure compliance with all company standards, practices and policies.
- Oversee the administration of all computerized databases, file systems, and reporting systems for the collection and processing of plant related data.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
- A bachelor's degree in business or engineering discipline or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in hydroelectric, steam and/or electric power plant operation.
- A minimum of 5 years’ management experience.
- Regulatory Compliance experience, understanding EPA, OSHA, local/zoning permitting, EEP and environmental laws preferred.
- Must be a Colorado resident
- Availability to travel to NY Corporate office when necessary.
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and mechanical layouts essential for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Knowledge of electrical systems related to power generation including circuit analysis and electrical safety protocols.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other industry software.
- Maintain confidentiality of company and financial data.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Organized and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to act as the company liaison for public relations and regulatory issues.
