Job Summary
Purpose: Our Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, including temporary and permanent labour while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. This role plays a critical part in supporting employees, internal teams, and the organization by delivering efficient and confidential payroll services.

Primary Responsibilities:
TEAM
•Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless data flow between systems.
•Support team members by sharing knowledge, tools, and best practices.
•Contribute to a positive team culture by promoting open communication and problem-solving.
•Train or support new hires in payroll-related functions, as needed.
CUSTOMER
•Serve as the first point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing timely and accurate responses.
•Ensure a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling employee information.
•Ensure employees’ understanding of pay statements, deductions, and payroll policies.
•Resolve issues with empathy and clarity to maintain a positive employee experience.
PROCESS
•Accurately process weekly and semi-monthly payrolls using Dayforce, including overtime, bonuses, and special adjustments.
•Maintain and update employee records related to earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits, in addition to new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations and other status changes.
•Prepare and/or reconcile and submit required statutory filings and remittances (e.g., CRA, WSIB, EHT).
•Ensure accurate tracking and calculations of vacation accruals, pension deductions and statutory holiday pay.
•Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, employment standards, and internal policies.
•Participate in audits, reconciliations, and year-end processes including T4 preparation.
•Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
COST
•Monitor payroll-related costs and identify discrepancies or opportunities for cost control.
•Support budget forecasting and reporting by providing accurate payroll data.
•Ensure accuracy in payroll coding to the appropriate cost centers or GL accounts.
•Minimize errors and rework through diligent quality checks and continuous improvement.
You bring:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Educational Background: Post secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is considered an asset.
•Experience: 5+ years of payroll experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
•Certifications: Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification is highly preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
•Proficient in Dayforce payroll and time & attendance modules and Microsoft Excel.
•Proven experience in payroll administration with both hourly (including multiple job. classifications) and salaried payrolls, preferably in a multi-province or large organization.
•Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, including Employment Standards Act, WSIB and Pension regulations.
•High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively within the team and other departments.
•Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
