Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Manages the administration of service contracts, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met by service providers, and that services are delivered according to agreed terms; supporting the site’s operational efficiency by ensuring that contracts are properly executed and monitored.
- Support in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing service contracts to ensure they are legally sound and meet the site’s operational requirements. Run the execution of contracts, ensuring all parties understand and fulfill their obligations.
- Liaise as the primary point of contact for service providers regarding contract-related inquiries and issues. Support communication between the site and service providers to ensure smooth and effective service delivery.
- Maintain detailed records of all contract-related documents, communications, and transactions. Monitor the performance of service providers against contract terms, including quality, timelines, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Assess potential contractual risks, such as service disruptions or non-compliance. Collaborate with team lead to prepare mitigation strategies, ensuring appropriate measures are documented and in place to address them.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Law, or related field required. Broad business knowledge and focus, ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities.
- Deep understanding of sourcing professional services, strategic sourcing, negotiations, and contracts administration and management for services and goods in oil & gas, mining or environmental and/or engineering industries.
- A strong understanding of the legal principles governing contracts, especially in procurement and supply chain contexts.
- Familiarity with procurement strategies, sourcing methods, and supply chain management processes within a corporate environment.
- Knowledge of industry-specific standards, regulations, and compliance requirements that may affect contract management (e.g., safety, environmental, or legal standards in mining).
- Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial aspects of contracts, including pricing and payment structures.
- Knowledge of how to evaluate vendor performance, handle disputes, and manage contractor relationships.
- Specialized skills and knowledge in risk management, environmental regulations, and local stakeholder management, while maintaining flexibility and adaptability in contract structuring.
- Experience in sourcing professional services, strategic sourcing, negotiations, and contracts administration and management for services and goods in oil & gas, mining or environmental and/or engineering industries.
- Experience in contract management, procurement, or a similar role, preferably within a large corporate or industrial environment (mining, energy, construction, etc.).
- Familiarity with contract management software and SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Proven experience in monitoring contractor performance, managing KPIs, and conducting contract audits or reviews. Experience in navigating complex land acquisition processes, environmental permitting, and working within indigenous land frameworks.
