MWD FIELD OPERATOR – AB
We're seeking MWD (Measurement While Drilling) Field Operator to perform services on rural remote rig-sites in Western Canada. You're a proven subject matter expert in MWD, supplying supervision, analysis and interpretation of MWD equipment either remotely or on the wellsite location.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport MWD equipment to and from rig-site as required.
- Provide specialized supervision during the installation of MWD equipment into drilling contractor’s bottom-hole assembly.
- Monitor and operate MWD equipment at the field site in accordance to Cathedral Energy Services execution plans, guidelines, and established operating limits.
- Monitor and verify the accuracy of directional survey and gamma logs.
- Complete pre job function test of all MWD equipment.
- Troubleshoot operational problems and proactively work towards increased equipment reliability, reduced drilling time and cost savings to customers.
- Perform field level maintenance and inventory to the MWD system on location.
- Pre/post job briefing and reporting as required.
- Management of MWD tools on location and communicate with Tool Coordinator (Calgary Facility) regarding MWD tool requirements.
- Processing gamma strip logs to corporate and client’s standards.
- Available to respond to customer needs while on location (on call 24 hours).
- Daily communication with MWD Coordinator regarding daily operational reports and summary reports.
- Communicate with rig contractor, client representative and Cathedral office to ensure client’s targets and objectives are met.- 2+ years of rig experience is preferred. Experience and exposure to MWD/LWD equipment
- Valid safety certificates (H2S, TDG, First Aid & CPR, WHMIS, Safe Driving).
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Display a strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work in a safety sensitive environment and comply with pre-access and site specific health and safety requirements including; Fitness testing and Drug & Alcohol testing
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts (including nights) and be away from home for extended periods of time. While on location, on-call 24 hours.
