Meter Reader - Temp

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, is seeking a Temporary Meter Reader in our Ocean Division to read residential/industrial gas meters utilizing company-provided technology.

Position Requirements:

- Must be 18 years or older

- Must poses a High School diploma or equivalent

- Must be dependable and punctual

- Demonstrate ability to be accurate in work product

- Communication and teamwork skills

- Demonstrate customer focus skills

- Valid driver’s license, and demonstrated safe driving

- Demonstrated ability to work safely

- Self-starter, ability to work independently and deliver results

Preferred skills:

- Working outdoors in all elements of weather

- Ability to read maps and field routes, including navigation

Physical Work Activities Include:

- ability to bend, squat, crawl, and climb

- ability to lift heavy objects

- ability to use hands

- ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions

- ability to drive a company vehicle

- ability to walk up to twenty miles per day

This position is deemed safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s regulations. Among other things, employees in this position are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing and post-accident testing. PHMSA-required drug tests include testing for marijuana. The use of marijuana, or testing positive for marijuana, is disqualifying and will lead to removal from performing safety-sensitive functions as well as disciplinary action.

Other Details: Compensation: The base pay for this role is $25.41/hour.
