The ideal candidate will have the ability to efficiently navigate a broad product portfolio and partner with a diverse team of engineers and designers, in a highly dynamic environment with ever-changing priorities. The Mechanical Engineer’s primary function is executing the design process for the Riley Power Division and must be able to lead projects and direct members of the design team.
- Evaluate mechanical systems and products, designed through applying principles of mechanics, materials, and machine design practices
- Lead design efforts for OOEM and OEM products in a complex design environment.
- Assist in developing design project schedule and communicate to project stakeholders
- Provide technical support to the Parts and Auxiliary OEM and OOEM business segments, including reverse engineering support utilizing 3D scanning equipment
- Perform basic engineering calculations and analyses in the appropriate discipline within the department, under the supervision of more experienced personnel
- Perform technical review and/or approval of project drawings and bids to ensure compliance with established design practices and designed for ease of manufacturing and installation
- Convert 3D CAD model into 2D manufacturing drawing
- Provide recommendations and promote development of new products, keeping abreast of competitor’s technology and industry needs
- Possess knowledge of industry standards in both mechanical, electrical, and process fields (ASME, ASTM, NFPA, NBIC, NEC, UL, etc.)
- Provide organized and well written reports
- Ability to overcome obstacles with creative solutions
- Solid understanding of fundamental manufacturing methods including, castings, forgings, machining, weldments, heat treatment, material science, tool design, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 0-5 years’ experience in machine design, preferably within power industry.
- Technical writing experience for rebuild and repair procedures.
- Up to 25% travel required
The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000.
