The Position: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work closely with other Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations personnel to carry out ongoing maintenance support and to develop and implement various projects.

Responsibilities:

- Work safety in all aspects of job and design safety into all work done.

- Work closely with other Engineering, Maintenance, and/or Operations personnel to carry out ongoing day-to-day maintenance support and to develop and implement various projects.

- Develop preventive and/or predictive maintenance routines for moderately complex production equipment.

- Work with internal or external craftsmen to perform preventive and/or predictive maintenance functions on complex production equipment.

- Evaluate results of preventive and predictive maintenance activities to assure activities are being correctly carried out and to identify chronic problems that need addressed.

- Work with internal or external craftsmen to troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions in complex equipment and/or systems and identify chronic problems that need addressed.

- Develop conceptual plans and design sketches for moderately complex production equipment and systems.

- Work with internal or external Draftsmen to produce final drawings from concepts and sketches.

- Select non-critical and/or moderately complex materials, production equipment and support systems with input from appropriate Maintenance and Operations personnel.

- Be the project manager on moderately sized projects and key project team member on large projects.

- Continually monitor process capabilities of complex production systems and identify opportunities for process improvement.

- Develop cost estimates for moderately sized projects and portions of large projects as required.

- Write funding requests for moderately sized projects and participate in writing of funding requests for larger projects.

- Supervise internal or external Draftsman or Design Draftsman and/or Level I Engineers for preparation of new drawings or modification of existing drawings as required.

- Supervise internal or external craft supervisors as required.

- Train new employees to the work area.


Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Engineering or Engineering Technology or similar degree

- Preferred 2 to 4 years of applicable experience in heavy industry, preferably heavy manufacturing.

- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

- Assertive, self-starter with positive attitude.

- Must be capable of handling numerous tasks in various stages of completion at the same time.


Pay Range: $80,000 - $85,000 (SG23)

The Location: Liberty SteelWire is based in Peoria, IL.
