Mechanical Assistant and Shop Labourer

Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Mechanical Assistant and Shop Labourer to support our busy workshop and welding areas. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values organization and safety, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.

Monday to Friday 10 hour days.

Responsibilities

- Clean and inspect fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and waste barrels

- • Organize tools, parts, hoses, hydraulic fittings, and tool kits

- • Maintain shop layout including LH/RH walls, tool benches, jack stands, and wheel chocks

- • Return cylinders, cutting torches, and waste oil to proper storage

- • Inspect and clean lifting straps, welding cables, and compressed cylinders

- • Support welding shop organization and general cleanup

- • Ensure spill kits are stocked, and scrap steel is properly disposed

- • Follow safety procedures including SLAM protocol

Requirements

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- • Ability to work independently and take initiative

- • Familiarity with basic shop tools and industrial safety procedures

- • Physical stamina for manual labor tasks

- • Previous experience in mechanical or industrial environments preferred
