Based at Cooper Machinery's Plant in Indianapolis, IN, the Manufacturing Operations Analyst supports end-to-end manufacturing performance by analyzing production and procurement data, improving operational and purchasing processes, maintaining manufacturing master data, and coordinating activities across Production, Planning, Engineering, and Purchasing. This role bridges Manufacturing Engineering, Production Planning, and Supply Chain by ensuring routings, schedules, and purchasing processes are aligned to support efficient, cost-effective, and on-time production.
- Support daily manufacturing operations through analysis of production performance, capacity utilization, and schedule adherence.
- Partner with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Planning teams to resolve operational issues impacting throughput, quality, or delivery.
- Monitor shop floor performance, identify constraints, and support corrective actions to improve flow and efficiency.
- Analyze manufacturing and purchasing processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and efficiency gains.
- Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Develop and maintain standard work, process documentation, and operating procedures across manufacturing and procurement workflows.
- Track and report results of improvement initiatives and operational KPIs.
- Create, maintain, and audit manufacturing routings, work centers, production versions, and related master data.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to validate labor standards, machine times, and routing sequences.
- Ensure routing and master data changes are reviewed, approved, and implemented accurately in manufacturing systems.
- Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and process updates.
- Assist with production planning and scheduling activities to balance capacity, labor, and material availability.
- Analyze demand, lead times, and constraints to support achievable and stable production schedules.
- Support schedule adjustments due to demand changes, material shortages, or operational disruptions.
- Support purchasing and procurement processes by analyzing material availability, lead times, and supplier performance.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to improve purchasing workflows, requisition accuracy, and order execution.
- Assist in maintaining and analyzing purchasing-related master data (e.g., source lists, purchasing info records, lead times).
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow, reduce shortages, and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
- Support root-cause analysis for material shortages, late deliveries, or production disruptions related to procurement.
- Analyze manufacturing and purchasing data to support operational and supply chain decision-making.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards related to production performance, material availability, and procurement metrics.
- Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities using data-driven analysis.
- Present actionable insights to operations and supply chain leadership.
- Serve as a liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
- Support audits, reviews, and management reporting related to manufacturing and procurement performance.
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving related to production, material, and supplier issues.
- Minimum High School diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution with at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, operations or supply chain.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production planning or purchasing processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, routings, and basic procurement concepts.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- Experience supporting purchasing or supply chain processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with SAP PP, MM, and related master data.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Ability to translate operational needs into system and process improvements
