About This Job

WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Maintenance Technician at the Fox Energy Center in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. This position is represented by Local No. 420 IUOE.

Work Hours: Monday-Friday - 7:00am - 3:00pm


Job Summary

The Maintenance Tech ensures the safe, reliable, compliant and economical generation of electricity by inspecting and maintaining combined cycle power plant equipment and structures during routine, abnormal or emergency conditions. The primary duty of this position is to perform mechanical maintenance on all equipment and auxiliary systems. This position will also provide assistance to other crafts and operations as required and perform minor IC&E maintenance activities, assist in planning of mechanical maintenance work and planning and scheduling of outage activities. Assist in determining the adequacy and accuracy of lockout/tagout boundaries and perform de-energization verifications (DEVs) of isolated equipment. Perform certain warehouse functions as required.


Job Responsibilities

- Ensure safe work methods by following all company safety rules and work practices

- Follow all safety related processes and procedures including but not limited to: lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work

- Ensure that mechanical equipment and systems function properly by maintaining generating station equipment and auxiliary equipment

- conduct corrective maintenance

- review work orders and diagnose problems

- coordinate with the Maintenance Planner and/or vendors to ensure the availability and adequacy of parts, equipment and services to perform such maintenance activities

- follow all procedures to ensure that the parts supply system can be maintained

- test repairs and complete necessary documentation

- perform and remain proficient in non certified welding

- Maintain equipment ensuring that equipment is maintained in accordance with established targets for plant reliability, availability, output, efficiency, safety and regulatory compliance

- Install mechanical design changes to upgrade plant operations or to meet new requirements

- Facilitate the diagnosis and repair of malfunctions

- Complete documentation to comply with specifications

- Participate in training programs to advance knowledge and skill level

- Sponsor, assist, and work with other Company personnel, vendors, and contractors in installation and repair of mechanical equipment and systems


Minimum Experience Required


Required Education

- High School Diploma or GED/HSED with 1 year Industrial Mechanical Maintenance related degree or certificate or a 1 year Welding Technical degree

OR

- Completion of one of the following state indentured apprenticeships; Machine Repairer, Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Technician, Millwright, Welder-Fabricator, Millwright/Pipefitter, Industrial Pipefitter, Industrial Manufacturing Technician

OR

- Equivalent military training may also be considered in lieu of a formal degree or formal apprenticeship


Required Experience


Valid Drivers License

- 5 years of progressive power plant maintenance experience

OR

- 5 years of progressive maintenance experience in an industry that utilizes similar equipment and/or processes to a power generation facility

OR

- 5 years of equivalent military experience


Testing Requirements

- Maintenance Selection System (MASS): Ability to understand basic mechanical principles, visualize proper assembled form of objects, read and comprehend technical material; and skill in working basic mathematical problems.

Minimum Posting Range: $42.97


Maximum Posting Range: $53.22

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
