Performs basic equipment service and general labor work, and assists craftsmen in maintenance, repair and inspections processes of all mine equipment plus general housekeeping, building maintenance and clean-up work of work areas, parts and equipment.
- Must demonstrate the ability to operate hand and power tools, measuring tools, shop support equipment, i.e., pickup, forklift, clean-up loader, sweeper, overhead crane, boom trucks.
- Operate steam cleaning equipment to clean large mining equipment, components, and parts.
- Remove dirt, grease, and contaminants prior to maintenance or repair.
- Maintain wash pad cleanliness and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Perform general labor duties such as sweeping, organizing tools, and cleaning work areas.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures and guidelines while working in the shop. Follow all safety protocols to minimize risks to yourself and others, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any safety and environmental hazards or concerns to supervisors.
- Report hazards or equipment issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Ability to work well with others and follow direction and instruction with direct supervision and minimal supervision
- Demonstrate safe work habits, and the ability and willingness to learn.
- Exposure to heat, steam, water, and cleaning chemicals.
- Work is performed in truck shops, surrounding areas and wash pad areas.
- Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Shift work required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
