Job Summary
NAES is seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead Electrical to provide leadership and technical oversight for all electrical commissioning activities at a power generation project in Oklahoma. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing electrical commissioning activities to ensure systems are installed, tested, and placed into service safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and procedures. The Lead Electrical will work closely with the Commissioning Manager, construction, engineering, and operations teams to drive system completion, support startup activities, and ensure a smooth transition from construction to operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all electrical commissioning activities across the project
- Develop, review, and execute electrical commissioning and checkout procedures
- Supervise and direct commissioning technicians and subcontractors performing electrical testing and verification
- Coordinate system walkdowns, punchlist development, and system readiness reviews
- Plan and manage electrical lockout/tagout boundaries and safe work execution
- Oversee commissioning of MCCs, switchgear, electrical distribution, motors, and associated control systems
- Support energization, startup, and troubleshooting of electrical systems
- Interface daily with construction, engineering, and operations teams to resolve field issues
- Track commissioning progress, report status, and escalate risks or constraints as needed
- Support turnover of systems and documentation to operations and O&M teams
- Strong working knowledge of electrical power systems, industrial controls, and commissioning practices
- Proven ability to lead field teams and coordinate multiple work fronts in a commissioning environment
- Solid understanding of electrical safety practices, including LOTO and NFPA 70E principles
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work extended hours and commissioning schedules as required by the project- 5+ years of experience in electrical commissioning, startup, or electrical construction on power or heavy industrial projects
- Prior experience in a lead, supervisor, or site leadership role required
- Power generation project experience (simple-cycle or combined-cycle) preferred
